By creating an account or using NIKSY, you accept these Terms. Our Privacy Policy forms part of them.
1. What NIKSY is
NIKSY is software. It helps you record, organise and understand your own spending.
2. What NIKSY is NOT
NIKSY is not a bank, and is not a licensed financial adviser. It is not a payment service, a lender, a broker or a tax adviser either.
- NIKSY does not hold, transfer, or have access to your money, and never initiates a payment.
- NIKSY has no connection to your bank other than reading information you choose to let it read on your own device.
- Nothing NIKSY shows you is financial, investment, tax, legal or accounting advice. Its summaries and suggestions are informational only.
- NIKSY is not a system of record. Your bank's statements are.
Your money stays with your bank, wallet provider and card issuer. A dispute about a payment, charge or refund is between you and that institution — NIKSY is not a party to it and cannot resolve it.
Decisions about your money remain entirely yours. For advice, consult a qualified professional.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into this contract.
4. Your account
You sign in with your mobile number, verified by a one-time code. There is no password.
You are responsible for keeping access to that number. Anyone who controls it and can receive its messages can sign in as you. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has accessed your account. You can see and revoke your active devices in the app.
One account is for one person. Do not share it.
5. Permitted and prohibited use
Use NIKSY for your own personal finances, or finances you are lawfully authorised to handle.
Do not: use NIKSY for anything unlawful; process records you are not authorised to handle; attempt to access another person's account, data or backup; reverse-engineer or tamper with the app except where that right cannot lawfully be excluded; interfere with, overload or probe our systems; or automate, scrape or resell access.
6. Automatic capture — what it cannot promise
NIKSY can record payments automatically from bank SMS and from notifications, if you grant those permissions. This is a software feature and it is not perfect.
- It will miss transactions — message formats change, permissions may be off, and your phone's power management can stop the app running.
- It can duplicate one, for example when a payment arrives as both an SMS and a notification.
- It can miscategorise, or misread an amount or merchant. You can correct it, and NIKSY learns from your correction for your account only.
- NIKSY asks rather than guesses when it is unsure. That reduces wrong entries; it does not eliminate them.
You are responsible for reviewing what NIKSY records. Treat your bank's own records as authoritative and check them before any decision that matters. We give no warranty that automatic detection is complete, accurate, timely or free of duplicates.
7. Statement import
A statement you import is read on your device. NIKSY refuses a statement it cannot read confidently rather than guess, and cannot read scanned or photographed statements at all. You review and approve every transaction before it is saved.
8. Backup and restore
Backup is optional and off until you turn it on. When enabled, NIKSY encrypts your data on your device and stores it in a private folder in your own Google Drive. It is not a NIKSY-hosted cloud service, and we do not hold a readable copy.
The encryption key is split between us and Google — see section 10 of the Privacy Policy. Restoring on a new phone needs both your phone number and the same Google account.
Please read these carefully:
- We do not guarantee that a backup exists, succeeds, or is complete at any given time. It depends on your device, network, Google account and Google's service.
- We do not guarantee that a restore will succeed.
- One backup is kept. A new one replaces the previous one.
- If you lose access to your Google account, we cannot recover your backup.
- If you lose access to your phone number, we cannot release our half of the key, and the backup cannot be opened.
- If you delete your NIKSY account, we delete our half of the key, and any backup left in your Drive becomes permanently unreadable. Export first if you want to keep it.
- Keeping your own copy is your responsibility — use Export.
9. Your data, your device
Your data is yours. We claim no ownership of what you record, and we do not acquire a licence to use it, because we do not receive it.
Because your data lives on your device, losing the device without a working backup means losing the data. We cannot recover it — we do not have it. Keep a screen lock on your phone. If it is lost or stolen, revoke that device from another one; we can revoke its sessions, but we cannot erase data already on it.
10. Third-party services
NIKSY depends on services operated by others, and your use of them is subject to their own terms: Google (Play, Sign-In, Drive, Firebase, and your device's speech service) and an SMS gateway in India for your sign-in code, together with our hosting provider.
We are not responsible for their availability or performance. If Drive is down, backup will not run. If the SMS gateway fails, you may not receive your code. If your bank changes its message format, capture may stop working for it.
11. Service availability
Most of NIKSY — recording, categorising, reporting and the assistant — works offline, because it runs on your device. Signing in, backup and fetching the backup key need a connection.
NIKSY is provided "as is". We do not guarantee uninterrupted, timely or error-free operation, and features may change or be withdrawn. NIKSY is currently distributed for testing; defects are expected.
12. Intellectual property
NIKSY — the software, design, name and branding — belongs to us and our licensors. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app, and nothing more. Feedback you send us may be used to improve NIKSY without obligation to you.
13. Ending your use
You may delete your account in the app at any time. It removes your account and our server-side records and clears NIKSY's data from this phone in the same step. Section 14 of the Privacy Policy lists exactly what is removed and what is not — in particular, a backup already in your Google Drive stays in your Google account, and becomes permanently unreadable because we delete our half of the key. Export first if you want to keep it.
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these Terms or where the law requires it. Except where a serious breach, a security risk or a legal requirement makes it impossible, we will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to export your data first.
14. Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, NIKSY is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for financial decisions you make in reliance on it, for missed, duplicated or misclassified records however caused, for data loss where no backup existed or access to your phone number or Google account was lost, or for a third-party service being unavailable.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right or remedy you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for wilful misconduct.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material you will be asked to review and accept the new version before continuing to use NIKSY.
16. Governing law and grievances
These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
